Frommers – The Unofficial Guide picks BayView Bed & Breakfast as their favourite B&B in Vancouver, B.C.

Image of Frommers Bed and Breakfast GuideTop-Notch, all-suite B&B has it all: peaceful setting, great views, fabulous breakfasts, well-appointed rooms, and super hosts. Classy, clean, upscale – our favorite Vancouver property. Gourmet four-course breakfast served in sunlit dining room overlooking gardens and bay. `Entrees may include such delights as sockeye salmon or mascarpone-stuffed French toast, always followed by a heavenly dessert. (Special diets accommodated graciously.) Indoors at BayView, you’re surrounded by soft florals, sculptured floor coverings, and fine furnishings; outdoors the elaborate gardens are like your own private park. Stunning views from the back deck. Adorable, well-behaved small pets on-site. We can’t wait to go back.

Comfort & Decor: Designer wall-paper and bedding, top-of-the-line mattresses, hardwood floors with sculpted, handmade rugs. Many special touches such as art-quality fixtures, handmade lamps, hand-painted sinks, antiques; original Canadian artwork throughout. Central heat (guests have thermostat access) house is quiet and well insulated.

The Living Show – a popular TV show, May 2007

“I invited BayView B&B to be on our TV show, the Living Show, because it is one of the most beautiful & most romantic B&Bs in the whole city of Vancouver. Although it is only a few minutes from the city centre, BayView B&B feels like a small country estate. Set in the middle of a beautiful garden with panoramic views of English Bay, Stanley Park and the city lights, it is a very peaceful place. We especially like the spacious BayView Suite with its great views and its exquisite attention to details: a stunning fireplace with handpainted tiles and an antique mantle; beautiful Nile cotton embroidered sheets from Sferra Bros. of Italy & Terra Nova Linens in Vancouver; elegant expensive Sanderson wallpaper from England and Canadian art from BC and Quebec. BayView B&B is truly a 5 star romantic getaway. You will love it.”

The absolute best in hospitality awaits you at BayView B&B in West Vancouver. This all-suite inn in a classy, modern home has exceptional English Gardens, sweeping water and city views, and the peace and quiet of a residential neighborhood. Hosts Gwen and Jim are gracious in the extreme, but never intrusive. Their three suites are a great value at $135 to $250 CDN. Besides having all the accoutrements of a fine hotel (desk, robes, TV/VCR, mini-fridge, reading/video library, private bath, top-of-the-line mattresses and linens), each offers its own private sitting room and a view of English Bay. You have room to relax and everything you need to recharge your batteries when you stay at BayView. Just a ten-minute drive from downtown, BayView is even closer to the beach and great neighborhood shopping and dining. For ski buffs, it’s also a great jumping-off point for Whistler. And did I mention the breakfasts? Absolute heaven. You can’t beat BayView B&B.

Vancouver:The Ultimate Guide – 6th Edition

Image for Vancouver Ultimate GuideIf you appreciate astounding views, old English Gardens and elegant surroundings, head to the BayView B&B in a quiet cul-de-sac in West Vancouver. Elaborate wall coverings and bedding, exquisite furnishings and a fine selection of Canadian art makes this B&B special. There are three suites with private baths and sitting rooms; in each you can lie in bed and see Lion’s Gate Bridge backed by Stanley Park and the city. The downstairs suite is large with a kitchen, queen-size sofa bed and private entrance. A generous deck overlooks the luxuriant garden, the ocean and the city. A four-course breakfast includes fresh baking. Close to West Vancouver beaches, seawalk and shops, and a 15-minute drive to city centre.

Hidden Pacific Northwest

Image for Hidden PLacesIf you’re looking for quiet, BayView B&B’s perch in an exclusive residential neighborhood above West Vancouver is the place. A spacious, neat home at the end of a little-travelled cul-de-sac, BayView has a four room suite on the main floor and two three-room suites upstairs. All offer nice views down to the water a mile below, and the Lion’s Gate Bridge beyond. Guests are greeted with a plate of steaming fresh cookies. Despite its bucolic locale, it’s just 15 minutes from downtown Vancouver.
